About the Service

CarStats is a Swiss platform for tracking and analysing price trends of collector and special-interest vehicles. From historical data to watchlists and leaderboards — we give you the insights to make smarter buying and selling decisions.

CarStats is designed for car enthusiasts, collectors, and anyone looking to buy or sell a car in Switzerland. Whether you're tracking a potential purchase, monitoring your collection's value, or looking for investment opportunities, our data helps you make smarter decisions.

We focus specifically on the Swiss market and enthusiast/collector vehicles. Our data shows actual price trends over time, not just point-in-time valuations. This helps you identify rising, stable, and declining models before making a purchase.

Not directly — but in a way that's often more useful. Instead of guessing a single number for your exact car, CarStats shows what comparable cars (same make, generation, and variant) are selling for in Switzerland and how that price is trending. That lets you judge your own pricing and decide whether to hold onto your car or sell it.

Yes. CarStats works from anywhere — but our data covers the Swiss car market exclusively. Ideal for anyone buying, selling, or tracking cars in Switzerland.

Price Trends & Values

There's no permanent answer — it shifts as the market moves. As a rule of thumb, a car holds its value when it stays desirable and demand outweighs supply: limited-production runs, special editions, and sought-after variants tend to hold up far better than models built in the tens of thousands. That's exactly what our "Stable" leaderboard tracks — it ranks the collector and enthusiast models in Switzerland with the highest price stability, and it updates as new market data comes in, so you can always see which cars are holding their value right now, not which did years ago.

"Future classics" are modern cars expected to become collectible and climb in value over time. Nobody can predict the future with certainty, but the same logic applies as for cars that hold their value: the car has to be desirable and relatively scarce — built in low numbers or as a special edition. On top of that, future classics are driven by culture and generational timing. The kids who had a Lamborghini Diablo or a Porsche 964 Turbo on their bedroom wall tend to start buying those cars once they have the means — typically 15–20 years later, when that wave of demand meets a limited surviving supply. CarStats can't tell you which car will be next, but its rising-price leaderboards show which enthusiast models are already trending upward in the Swiss market — a data-led way to spot the momentum early.

They can be. Some collector cars have appreciated significantly — but some stay flat or even lose value. This comes down to the model, its condition, and timing. Helping you tell them apart is the whole idea behind CarStats: informed buying decisions, so you can enjoy a cool car without it losing you a fortune. Bear in mind we don't give financial advice, and a car's price is only part of the cost — running expenses, insurance, and upkeep all count. Demand shifts across generations, too: the people with the most buying power today may chase different cars than those before them, so a long-time riser can slip once its buyers age out. CarStats shows you the real price-trend history for collector cars in Switzerland, so you can judge how a model has actually performed before you buy.

Data & Methodology

We collect listing data from third-party automotive sources. Before anything reaches you, our algorithms map each entry to the correct model, generation, and variant, and discard data points that appear false or misleading.

We update our database at least once per quarter. When new data becomes available, subscribers with relevant cars on their watchlist receive email notifications.

We currently track 100+ car models across 10+ brands, with a focus on collector and special-interest vehicles. We're constantly expanding our coverage based on user requests and market demand.

Our earliest data points for Porsche models reach back to 2023, giving you up to three years of price trend history. For all other brands, data is available from 2025 onwards. As our database grows, so does the historical depth for every brand we cover.

The median price is the middle value when all prices are sorted. Unlike averages, medians aren't skewed by unusually high or low outliers, making them a more reliable indicator of typical market pricing.
